Born and raised in the heart of Los Angeles, California, designer, photographer, and artist, Kayla Vachon grew up in the neighborhoods of Hollywood and Laurel Canyon. Surrounded by the lush greenery and winding roads that have become synonymous with the area, she was exposed to the creative and bohemian spirit that has long characterized this legendary enclave. From an early age, Kayla was drawn to music, and spent countless hours drawing, dancing and painting to the likes of Erykah Badu, Joni Mitchell and The Doors. Inspired by the rich musical heritage of Laurel Canyon, Kayla picked up a guitar at age 9 and began writing songs of her own, later eventually forming a band with her friends from the Los Angeles underground art scene. As Kayla’s interests began to grow, they began attending and playing shows at local venues and quickly built friendships among the vibrant and eclectic community of the downtown art scene. Today, they are a sought after portrait photographer, as well as apparel artist/designer, known for their soulful colorways and palettes that play like catchy melodies. Everything Kayla works to create is made with the intention of paying homage to the musical legacy of her beloved hometown. There’s no place like home.
